Aisha Alfa is a stand-up comedian, actor, motivational speaker and life coach. It's no secret that her initials are AA, much like the type of batteries used in most remote controls - so you could say her career in television was destined.
Aisha's comedy is worldly, energetic, and silly with a positive perspective. Other adjectives that could be used to describe her style: bubbly, charismatic, and clever. Here are a few other adjectives, just in general (nothing to do with Aisha): mystical, toasty, aerodynamic.
In the three short years (each year was only 292 days long) since breaking out as a comic, she won Winnipeg's Funniest Person with a Day Job Award and was one of the top five Winnipeg finalists for Canada's Next Top Comic. Wow! She received a nomination for the Woman of Distinction Award (ultimately losing out to Oprah's best friend Gail) and was a finalist for the Future Leaders of Manitoba Award (in the Arts Category).
You may have seen Alfa performing at clubs around Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Calgary, though you may not have been able to hear her, as these were dance clubs -- just kidding. She has also performed at The Comedy Store(San Diego, CA), The Las Vegas Comedy Show (Las Vegas, NV), Big Al's Comedy Club (Las Vegas, NV), and actor Gary Sinise's summer house in the Hamptons (the back door was unlocked - she literally was able to walk right in and spend three luxurious days there, enjoying his indoor jacuzzi and pantry full of mostly-unexpired foodstuffs until the neighbors noticed some suspicious sounds coming from the residence and called the police).
She has performed at many festivals, most notably Just For Laughs(2013), NXNE (2013), Winnipeg Comedy Festival (2012 & 2013),Winnipeg Folk Fest (2012 & 2013), Winnipeg Improv Festival(2012) the Winnipeg Fringe Festival (2011, 2012 & 2013), and the Annual Gary Sinise "Bring Our Troops Home" U.S. Military Fundraiser Festival (2013 & 2014 - uninvited both years).
Alfa's other passion is soccer. She won Manitoba Soccer Outstanding Player of the Year in 2012. She played with the Ottawa Fury, part of the North American semi-professional soccer league (2003 & 2004) and was the only female player in Seoul, Korea's men's league (2005-2007), making her the perfect fit to make fun of music videos on television.
Born in Nigeria, Alfa was raised in Winnipeg and is newly #based in Toronto, Canada, North America.
Getting his start as an intern at MTV, Paul Lemieux spent hours transcribing tapes as a Production Assistant before making the jump to on-air personality, and ultimately an MTV reporter. Paul can currently be seen on Much's VIDEO ON TRIAL.
Having become a regular fixture on MTV LIVE in 2006, on MTV SHOWTOWN in 2013, and now on VIDEO ON TRIAL, Paul never shies away from a dare or brazen bit. As a result, he's pulled off some of the most outlandish, disgusting, and downright hilarious stunts on the series including getting shot with a paintball gun by Mark Wahlberg, applying to be P. Diddy's assistant by submitting a video-application, which appeared on CNN and OPRAH, and eating 41 Oreos in one sitting. His unique interviews, titled "One On One With Paul Lemieux", feature Hollywood A-listers including the Jonas Brothers, Ke$ha, and JERSEY SHORE cast members Ronnie and JWoww, have even earned him critical acclaim from the likes of Perez Hilton.
Since joining Bell Media, Paul has interviewed an array of personalities including Tom Cruise, Jason Segal, Paul Rudd, Shia LaBoeuf, Johnny Knoxville, Jonas Brothers, Kelly Clarkson, Kesha, Ronnie and JWoww (JERSEY SHORE) and Colin Greenwood from his all-time favourite band Radiohead. Paul has also worked as a street correspondent, interviewing random locals at events across Canada and has traveled all over the world, including Iceland and Mexico, as well as Miami for the Victoria Secret fashion show. Paul is also the first man to win Olympic gold medals in both the Summer and Winter Games - (1994, Lillehammer - Luge; 2000, Sydney - Judo). That last statement is a complete lie but would be very impressive if it was true.
Raised in St. Catharines, ON, Paul obtained his diploma in television production from Niagara College (located directly beneath one of the waterfalls) where he won an award for best directed news magazine show "Inside Niagara." Paul is a music junkie with an impressive record collection; he can recite any episode of THE SIMPSONS, and is a baseball fanatic with season tickets to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Video On Trial is a weekly comedy series that celebrates the absurdity of music videos. From today's hottest videos, to throwbacks, to even the bizarre, no video is safe from the clever and biting humour of comic tag team Aisha Alfa and Paul Lemieux.
