Small fish. Big pond. Huge dreams.

The L.A. Complex focuses on a select group of aspiring performers pursuing celluloid and stardom in LA. Moving into an apartment-style motel for displaced dreamers, each dubbed "most likely to succeed", they all face the challenges and opportunities of a lifetime.

For every bona fide starlet, there are countless cocktail waitresses. For every true rock star, there are hundreds of buskers on the pier. For every comedian with a hit sitcom, there are dozens of guys cracking jokes while pouring your coffee. In LA your life can change in the blink of an eye. On Monday, you might score some face-time with the big-shot producer. On Tuesday, you might drink the night away, just to cope with the loneliness. On Wednesday, you might sign that multi-million dollar contract. On Thursday, you might try to sleep your way to the top, only to end up in the gutter. But one thing is for sure - on Friday, the rent is due.

Abby Vargas

Cute and brassy, Abby is the girl next door, with a rough, punky edge. She is a charming trainwreck with a big heart. An aspiring actress from Toronto, she runs out of money and gets evicted from her apartment after only six months in L.A.. Abby ends up moving into the less-then-glamorous motel The Lux, where many young hopefuls end up. While she is no pushover, she is naive enough to get herself into a lot of trouble, and vulnerable enough to feel all the cheap shots that Hollywood throws at her. But Abby is a fighter, and is ready to put up her dukes and guard her dreams and soul.

Cassie Steele
Toronto native Cassie Steele joins the cast of THE L.A. COMPLEX as Abby, the aspiring Canadian actress who has been in L.A. for a mere six months. Cassie is best known for her role as Manny Santos on 10 seasons of the internationally acclaimed drama series DEGRASSI: THE NEXT GENERATION. Cassie was a 2003 nominee and the 2002 winner of a Young Artist Award for 'Best Ensemble Actor in a TV Series' for her portrayal of Manny Santos.

Cassie's other television credits include a lead role in the Disney television film Lamont's Maccabees, young Sydney in the series RELIC HUNTER (2002 Young Artist Award nomination for 'Best Performance in a TV Drama Series'), Julie in Full Court Miracle (2004 Young Artist Award nomination for Best Performance in a TV Movie) and a guest appearance on DOC. In the summer of 2007, Cassie filmed three episodes of the hit CTV dramatic series INSTANT STAR as Blu.

Cassie's love of the arts extends beyond acting. As a talented singer/songwriter, Cassie released her debut album How Much for Happy in 2005 and her second album Destructo Doll in July 2009. Cassie is currently hard at work on her third album.
