A'Keiba Burrell, daughter of rapper MC Hammer, was born September 29, 1987. Amazingly, she shares her birthday with her mother, Stephanie -- who gave birth on her 21st birthday. And the day she was born was the first time her father heard one of his songs on the radio.

A'Keiba became passionate about music at a very young age, an attribute she says her parents immediately picked up on and helped foster. MC Hammer would let her run out onstage with him to dance around and, once she was old enough to talk, sing with him during his concerts.

Studying film and music production at the University of Texas at Austin, A'Keiba Burrell is working hard to develop her vocal skills and learn the business and technical sides of her trade. She was inspired to follow this path by her father, who she says is always very involved in the production of his music.

When not studying, A'Keiba spends most of her time singing, classifying her sound as R&B with a neo-soul vibe, and participating in "normal" activities like going out to dinner and bowling. Now her life's about to change as she hits the Rock the Cradle stage.
