When their best friend Alison mysteriously vanishes, four girls believe their secrets are safe forever. But when they begin to receive threatening messages from someone named "A," the truth may be only one text away. Filled with mystery, scandal, intrigue and nail-biting suspense, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS is based on the best-selling book series for young adults from Alloy.
Set one year after the disappearance of Alison, the manipulative and vindictive queen bee, the one-hour drama revolves around four 16-year-old girlfriends -Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily - who have lost touch with one another until each begins to receive mysterious messages suggesting that Alison is watching them and knows their most private details they are desperate to keep hidden. Suddenly, living in their picturesque suburban community is far from perfect as secrets, lies and betrayals threaten everything they hold dear. Even after Alison's body is discovered, the messages don't stop...
Once-chubby Hanna has transformed herself into the current 'It girl,' but still battles the urge to binge. Shoplifting gives her a less-fattening thrill, but when she gets caught, the charges are dismissed only because her mother, Ashley, takes matters into her own hands, eager to keep her own reputation and the image of her daughter untarnished.
Ashley Benson stars in the one-hour drama Pretty Little Liars, based upon the popular book series from Alloy Entertainment, as Hanna Marin, who recently discovered her 'cool' side and is playing it to the hilt.
Born and raised in California, she developed a passion for theater at the age of 3, began acting when she was 9 -- working mostly in commercials -- and then quickly made the transition into film and television. Most recently in television, Benson was a series regular on Eastwick, playing Rebecca Romijn's daughter, and she starred in the Lifetime Television movie Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal. Her additional television credits include appearances on The District, The West Wing, Scrubs and The O.C. Previously, Benson spent three years on NBC's Days of Our Lives, playing Abigail Deveraux.
Benson made her feature film debut in 13 Going on 30, starring Jennifer Garner. She was also the lead in Bring It On: In It to Win It, as the fresh-faced captain of the West High cheerleading team. In 2009, she was seen in the independent film Bart Got a Room, opposite William H. Macy.
Benson lives in the Los Angeles area with Olive, her Maltese Shih Tzu. In her spare time, Benson enjoys traveling, singing, the beach, the movies and watching the Los Angeles Lakers -- she's a huge fan.
