Awkward.

Narrated in the first-person voice of Jenna's blog posts, "Awkward." captures the humor within the struggles and experiences everyone can relate to from their formative years. The series picks up in the aftermath of the accident as she must deal with a new not-so-fun stigma, while at the same time managing the other daily drama that comes with being a teenager. From a secret relationship with a popular guy, to being undermined by a mean girl, and parents who just don't get it-Jenna's misfortune will eventually serve as the catalyst for amazing change, but it's not without some missteps and mishaps along the way.

Jenna Hamilton is the invisible girl in high school who is wise beyond her years and has an irreverent, optimistic outlook on life. She's no Juno who's above it all -- she actually wants to fit in. Excited for a new school year, Jenna is quickly disillusioned when she loses her virginity to her crush Matty who doesn't want to take their relationship public. Things go from bad to worse when a mysterious care-frontation letter leads to a misunderstanding of epic proportions causing everyone to believe that Jenna's accident was a failed suicide attempt. Rather than let her new identity as 'that girl' define her, Jenna will turn her stigma into a catalyst for amazing change and her metaphorical rebirth. Her world is going to open up: she'll try on new hats, make new relationships and attempt to define herself. But for all the positive power her new visibility will wield, it will also cast a dark shadow that will not be easy to shake. Every step she takes forward, Jenna will also be burdened to take a step back when the stigma of her accident rears its ugly head -- but she'll make you laugh as she stumbles. As Matty and Jake work their way into her life and heart, she'll learn that sometimes it's not about getting what she wants -- it's about getting what she needs -- and that even losers can have a fairy tale!

Ashley Rickards
Ashley Rickards is an accomplished actress with multiple television and film screen credits to her name. Ashley will soon be seen in MTV's television series 'Awkward' as the lead 'Jenna Hamilton.' Ashley will also soon be seen starring in 'Sassy Pants' with Haley Joel Osment, Diedrich Bader and Anna Gunn. Ashley's additional film credits include the independent film 'ly Away' which premiered at this year's SXSW film festival as well as 'Gamer' alongside Gerard Butler. Ashley's television credits include her breakthrough role as 'Samantha Walker' in the hit CW television series, 'One Tree Hill.' She has also made appearances in 'Outlaw,' 'Entourage,' 'Ugly Betty' and 'CSI:NY,' among others. A native of Sarasota, Florida, Ashley currently resides in Los Angeles and works to prevent and end sexual slavery and the human trafficking of women and children with the Somaly Mam Foundation.
