Kanye West set to release Cruel Summer in September

While Kanye West initially said that his collaborative G.O.O.D. Music album Cruel Summer would see the light of day on August 7, the rapper is now pushing the release date back slightly to September 4. The album, which will feature music from Frank Ocean, John Legend, Common, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Mos Def and more, will be the follow up to West’s hugely successful collaboration with Jay-Z for 2011′s Watch The Throne.

G.O.O.D. Music member John Legend told Complex Mag that the new album will set all the artists involved apart from the mainstream, saying “That creativity, that attention to detail, that quality control—that’s what distinguishes us from other folks who might just be chasing a hit. Kanye picks artists who care about making great art. We all want to make money and do well, but we also want to make great art that’s important and interesting.”

The group has already released the first single from Cruel Summer with Mercy, featuring Kanye West, Pusha T, Big Sean and 2 Chainz.
