Kardinal has changed many preconceived notions of what a hip-hop artist is. He doesn't hail from New York, L.A., or Atlanta; he embraces his Canadian Jamaican heritage. He is the unofficial ambassador of Toronto.
It's been 4 years since his last release "Fire Starter Vol. 1" but Kardinal has maintained his presence in the public by producing or guest appearing on various artist's albums or simply recording dub plates for DJ mix tapes.
I want to bring some meaning back to the music, but I also want to bring back that energy and drive that inspires people.
Kardinal Talks Fire And Glory Kardinal Offishall is officially offishall. Seriously serious. After years of label strife, the Toronto rapper is heading up his own Black Jays imprint. He just released a blazing album called Fire and Glory, a record brimming with so much homegrown talent that he scrapped a song produced with Timbaland in favour of others. Yes, things are just fine for Kardinal, thank you very much. "I'm glad that people are recognizing what's going on right now, and people are appreciating the music that I put out. Cause at the end of the day, I'm really just trying to do the best music that I can possibly do, and hope that the public likes it. I try to do it without all the gimmicks and marketing schemes and stuff, I really just try and have people love my music just for music's sake."
