Name:

Robin Black

Hometown:

Pinawa, MB

Occupation:

Intergalactic Rock Star

Bio : Robin Black

Flamboyant, in-your-face rocker Robin Black brings his inimitable style to the VJ Search Expert Panel. An indelible mainstay of the Canadian music scene, the Manitoba native moved to Toronto in 1998 with nothing but bravado and determination, and soon formed The Intergalactic Rock Stars, with himself as outrageous front man. Their spectacular live shows - which feature pyrotechnics, loud guitars, ferocious attitude and smutty language - helped them build a dedicated local fan base. They recorded 2002's full-length debut, Planet: Fame, with top producers GGGarth Richardson (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine) and Moe Berg (The Pursuit Of Happiness).

Having shortened the band name to Robin Black and securing a new five-member line-up, the group created their 2004 album Instant Classic with world-renowned producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, KISS) and Richardson. Black and his band have toured Canada and Europe dozens of times, they have sold 20,000 albums independently and their video for the single So Sick of You even garnered a 2003 MMVA nomination. A larger-than-life personality, Black is at times charismatic and charming, at others arrogant and offensive, but he is always memorable - making him an ideal choice for MuchMusic VJ Search: The Series.

The Breakdown

Robin Black

OK everyone, here's how it is...they are all legitimate contenders, and all deserve real consideration.

I am so proud of all of them. I hope I helped them evolve in some small way. I hope I did a good job.

Erik! This dude is for real. When you go to vote, really really consider this...he's good at everything, he's worked harder than everyone, is driven to constantly improve and, if you have reservations about him, it may be just because you heard his competitors insulting him, and believed the hype. This guy's for real. Don't believe the hype.

Nikki! Beautiful, talented. She can do this. She's got what it takes. This girl ain't bland no more. If you cast your vote for her, you will be voting for someone VERY deserving. As I said, Nikki has what it takes and I'm confident that, if she wins, she will get better and better.

Tim! You love him. How can you not? He's so likeable, even I like him. You don't need me to honk this cat's horn. You already voted him back.

Sean!!!

Sean is my pick for VJ. He's the best one. He's funny, charming, talented, and unique. He kicked ass tonight, and handed Tim (and the others) his ass in the music knowledge competition. I thought Tim and Nikki were the ones with all the music knowledge. Nobody doubts Sean anymore now. He got more points in the music knowledge competition than EVERYONE ELSE COMBINED!

If you, like me, vote for Sean, I think you will be helping hire someone very special, someone who will help MuchMusic, Canada's original music station, continue to evolve and grow. And continue to be the best. And I'm done talkin' about his sexual orientation. I'm done hearin' about it.

He deserves more respect than that. He is so much more than that.

But, as you know, it is all up to you. Honestly, any of these four would be (will be) a great VJ, a great person to bring you music, news, and culture.

I say vote Sean. But it's up to you.

Please respond to my blog (thanks!) and tell me what YOU think.
And please vote, and tune in next week and see YOUR new MuchMusic VJ.
I can't wait.
