  • Why should you be a Much VJ?:
  • Why shouldn't I? Now, yes I know, this is a very cocky answer. Give me the chance and you'll never look back! First of all, I am passionate about music and I want to be a part of the media. All kinds. Media has always been something that I have wanted to get into (and believe you me, I stay on top of celebrity gossip weekly!). As a little girl, I would make home improvisation movies and put on shows for the neighbours and I would play my guitar and saxophone. I love writing, I love hearing what others have to say, and I love making people laugh and entertaining others . I want to gain this type of experience to prepare for my future and I want to share the skills that I already possess while meeting new people. MuchMusic seems like a great environment to do this - a dream come true! I've lived on Vancouver Island my whole life, and when I was in grade nine, our school band went to Toronto but we never even got to sightsee or check out the MuchMusic headquarters (boourns!). Get me off of this island, dammit! Currently I volunteer at a local radio station doing promotions and I hope to get into BCIT's Broadcast and Journalism program in September. But I'm pretty sure that might be a little delayed or never happen once you realize how rad I am (Toots my own horn).
  • Formal education completed:
  • High school diploma, first year general college.
  • Languages spoken:
  • English
  • Last job(s) held:
  • Server, Salon Receptionist .
  • Describe your personality and style:
  • My personality could be best described as quick-witted and sassy. I am known for my cheap-shot sarcastic comments and my crazy sense of humour. My personal style changes depending on a lot of things. I enjoy a nice pair of slacks, no doubt, however most of the time you can find me in my skate shoes or Chucks with a nice pair of jeans and a cute t-shirt or hoodie. I'm just that easy. I like to change my hairstyle a lot so that people always have trouble recognizing me. Always two steps ahead...or something? I like fun makeup and my sparkling smile and dimples are definitely selling points.
  • What are your strengths?:
  • Okay, so in all seriousness now, personal strengths: I am strong and have dealt with a lot in my life. Amanda Marshall says, "everybody's got a story that could break your heart", well she is right! (hah, did I just quote Amanda Marshall? Man.) I am sociable; I have very few great close friends and a ton of buddies and aquaintances. I work well alone or with people and I can adapt to new environments easily. Throw me into a tricky situation. I double dog dare you! I am personable, approachable and very driven. As for my "resume skills" I can type a mean 80 WPM, have dealt with customer service for 8 years (as well as a variety of other shameless jobs), and I can handle any little punks (and by punks I mean kids, love em!) Sure maybe none of this relates to that certain "VJ type" out there that you're looking for, but this is me!
  • What was the best concert you've ever attended and why?:
  • The best concert I ever attended was Vans Warped Tour because I got to see all of my favourite bands at one venue. This year I was fortunate enough to get to go to the Vancouver and Calgary shows. My boyfriend at the time was in a band and they were playing on the tour as well. It was surreal to finally meet a lot of people that I never thought I would (I even met Leah from Much! Ooooh!) Yay for VIP passes and being a groupie!
  • What are your two favourite CDs, and what's the most recent you've listened to?:
  • Hmm... This is a very tough answer for me. See, I believe that music helps your soul during different times in your life. Music helps many people through things they're experiencing and feeling. It can change your mood and maybe you can relate to it a little. I personally have gone through many different styles and phases throughout my life. I am very influenced by music. Anyway, I would say that my two all-time never get sick of, can listen to anytime no matter what CDs (argh, such a hard question) would be Incubus "Make Yourself" and No Doubt "Greatest Hits". Next time ask for the top 10, maybe that would be a bit easier! I've most recently listened to tons of albums and songs. I enjoy a huge variety of music and I appreciate a lot of different genres of music.
  • Name three books that have influenced you:
  • Way Of The Peaceful Warrior, Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know, Awakening The Buddha Within.
  • What magazines do you read?:
  • Blender, US Weekly, Maxim, Cosmo, Practical Photography
  • What are your goals?:
  • My future goals are to go to BCIT in Vancouver and achieve my diploma in broadcast and journalism. I love living in Victoria but would be excited and super stoked to get to experience yet another city. Plus, BCIT rocks! I eventually want to travel, get a "real job" and settle down and make babies in suburbia...wait...scratch that! I gotta get going while I'm still young! There's not much time left!
  • If you had the opportunity what one question would you ask...
  • 50 CENT: Do you have any surprising hobbies?
AVRIL LAVIGNE: What are your top five all time favourite songs (that you didn't write)?
THE KILLERS: Did you all actually kill someone? Where does your name come from?
COLDPLAY: What are you bad at? Probably nothing!
  • What social issues interest you?:
  • Canada's healthcare! Homelessness and helping the less fortunate, wildlife preservation.
  • Who, in your opinion, are the most influential artists in music history?:
  • The Beatles, Tupac, Madonna, Kurt Cobain, Michael Jackson, U2.
  • What does MuchMusic mean to you?:
  • Canada's music headquarters! Up to date celebrity info, inside scoops, interviews, crazy VJ personalities, contests, music, music, news, concerts & I wanna be involved!
  • What are your favourite shows on Much?:
  • MOD, Intimate & Interactive, Video On Trial, The NewMusic, TopTens.

Casey-Jo

Now that I have your attention (muwhahaha) I wanted to thank everyone once again for doing all that they could in attempts to bring me back like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Everyone that went to their schools and voted on multiple computers, everyone who went into debt from text msging and making much music that much richer, everyone who spread the word (and the word was 'legs') oh wait...nevermind!

Anypiddle, if I don't get back on the show and win this, I know that one day people will refer to me like pogs: "Hey remember that Casey-Jo character back in the day? Wasn't she fun and interesting sometimes??" Okay maybe I'm no slammer, but it'll be interesting to see what happens.

NO I do not know any insider information. Trust me kiddies, I'm JUST as frustrated as you are by what's going to be happening here and I was informed this morning actually that I will have to tune in Monday night to see what happens as well, just like every other viewer (what am I chopped liver? damnit)! So who knows what the next surprise will be. "Hurry up and wait" the real TV land talk.

Since I've been back I've had the pleasure of checking out some shows and bands: I am the avalanche (OHEMGEEZ they got me excited in places I never thought possible hahaha), local band theset (wont get to see them at little community places for much longer as they're really gonna hit it outta the park), local band open, parachute! (one of my favorite island bands, I'm not gonna lie!), stutterfly (why their label dropped them still pisses me off and confuses me at the same time), metric (holy crap, see them live and you wont be disappointed, I toughed it out at the front somehow even though people were half beating me to death), and some other amazingly talented local bands italian edition and a black tie social.

I've had the privilege to get local press coverage and meet some fantastic peeps and have a barrel of laughs. Big shout out to my pals at The Zone, 107.3 Kool FM, The Times Colonist, The Nanaimo Bulletin, The Ladysmith Chronicle, and the fine folks at A Channel in Victoria! I got my hurr did a little bit by the talented tine bop! so thanks to her and the fabulous people at Ferreira Young. "OK, let's not talk about it too much Casey", but I do want to say I'm trying to love it and it's given me the opportunity to work on who I am on the inside instead; I think it could be a blessing in disguise. One day I hope to pull it off as graciously as Ms. Natalie Portman. SNL SKIT:
"so Natalie...what's the day in the life of Natalie Portman?"
"do you really wanna know?"
"please tell us.."
"I DONT SLEEP MOTHERF--" etc hahaha

A big hug to the hot ladies at Brun! I want to smother my friends at Malachai Clothing for all the love, support, and trivial pursuit DVD ass kicking they've sent my way! Thank you to Drive-Thru Records for all your love and ultra ill mega dope bands.

What else have you been doing Casey? I've been out gallivanting around, broker than...umm..broke, but smiling and skipping, causing a ruckus as per usual in your nearest Toys R Us and such, cruising the ocean sipping my tea, hugging loved ones, reading and thinking a lot, a little painting and geetar playing, nerding it up online, I've been pretty busy I must say!

OH YEAHS! Thank you very much the mostest to my biggest "fans" out there, of course I'm talking THE MYSPACERS (gotta love it): alex (www.cjforvj.com), delna&jesse, rona, lisa, RUTHIE, joseph, karly m, michelle, josh, mark, alysia, cindy&terry, little matty, booth, sanober and jessica, kaitlyn, davaroo, sean, randy, b-rock&bean, justb, the green splat kids, pear-e-en, jamesy, shawn, kylie, mike, chris, cj, dane&theshow, pirate hooker, noodle and jess, lukepuke, tyson, ryanrae and crystal. There are a lot of you out and there...so sorry if you're disappointed you don't see your name. I've tried to respond to every single message that has been sent to me (still working on it). To everyone I spammed with emails and you've responded and voted and yet you still love me, thank you so much! I LOVE YOU GUYS!! Of course, my friends and family, you better love me no matter what! Muwhaha!! And I couldn't have done it without you. "Have I told - you lately - that I love you...?" (Trivia question: Who wrote it, Van Morrison or Rod Stewart!? Perhaps Lulu Belle and Scotty in 1937?).

You know what, with no formal training and just coming into this I gotta think I did pretty darn good. Sure you weren't shown all the footage of the challenges and maybe you were all caught up in how I acted with the other contestants rather than my work. I'm truly very sorry for things that I said/did on the show that were out of character for me. Being in that environment and all the competitiveness and the drama can really mess with your head. I wasn't the only one talking, but they sure did show me saying things verses showing other people. I would hope you understand. It all happens for a reason and I've learned my lessons, hopefully never to be recreated again.

It all adds to my character: "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved" - Helen Keller. One of the many many things I've learned from this is to deal with being in the media and criticized on every move. It's actually you guys, the haters, which I can thank for making me stronger in the end. So thank you. "It is easy to be brave from a safe distance" - Aesop.

Without the viewers it wouldn't be possible but it also wouldn't have happened if not for MuchMusic, CHUM, and Insight Productions for the opportunity. Thank you for choosing me J. Yay.

In closing, YES I'm as much of a dork as you had regretfully thought and I would love to extend my warmest and kindest thanks to everyone and all...I cant even pinpoint EVERYONE. In the words of P. Diddy: "Can't stop, won't stop ne-eh". Yes, I just quoted the puff man, I can't even believe it myself. Those Dave Chappelle fans will pick up what I'm throwing down... I'm NOT GIVING UP! So love peace and chicken grease...say whaaa!?!! I would like to encourage everyone reading this to think for yourself more often, go outside that box, and try not to always follow that trend/crowd. Heck, while you're at it enjoy the b-e-a-utiful country out there, wherever you may live. "Nothing is worth more than this day" - Goethe. Much love, Casey-Jo
