Stephen Harper's Conservatives Win Minority Government

After more than 12 years since the Conservatives were last in power, Stephen Harper's party narrowly beat out the Liberals in last night's election to win a minority in the House Of Commons.

The party made important gains in the provinces of Quebec and Alberta (where they won all 28 seats). Afterwards, Prime Minister Paul Martin conceded defeat and announced that he would soon step down as Liberal leader.
