We were supposed to have a big shindig as per usual in 2001, back when the awards took place in September. But then 9/11 happened, and we didn't feel like throwing a big party. However, just because the show was formally cancelled doesn't mean that we couldn't give out some dang awards, which we did. George Stroumboulopoulos and Namugenyi Kiwanuka hosted an informal hour of announcing winners who accepted through video clips - including OLP, Sum 41 and Nelly Furtado.
