1997 Recap

Remember Electric Circus? Back in the mid to late 90s, the MMVAs were like one huge episode of EC, only with more rock and more awards. The dancers were everywhere in 1997, and lime green was the colour du jour. Seriously, it was a little out of hand. Anyway, this was the first year that the event scored a couple big time non-Canadian acts. Blur opened the show with a sick performance of "Song 2" and things got pretty wild when Bush played "Swallowed" - Gavin Rossdale almost lost his guitar in the audience. OLP, Bran Van 3000 and Moist each hauled away some hefty hardware and by the end it was clear that this was not a party to be messin' with.
