Ahh. The year it all began. Yes, back then the event was known as the Canadian Music Video Awards and they were indeed something to be celebrated. The CMVAs were new and fresh and wholly Canadian - and nothing like what you see today. There were no crowds in the streets. There were no screams and chaos ensuing. In fact, the only thing the 1990 CMVAs had in common with recent MMVA extravaganzas were the performances, and they took place on a train. Yes, that's right - a train, which travelled coast to coast and stopped in select cities with different performing artists. And then it was probably decided that having a week-long awards show on a train was probably too crazy, so they took it to the ChumCity building for next year.
