Dude. How does someone have a song of the spring and then move on to having a song of the summer, too? Well, Rihanna's pretty much done that with "S.O.S". That's a feat. And THEN she picked up the MMVA for Best International Artist! Damn, girl. We crashed Rihanna's green room during Sunday rehearals to get to the bottom of this catchy tune and like, some other stuff too.
What's the best decision you've made lately?
Best decision?! (slightly baffled) Wooo ooo!
It could even be like, what you had for breakfast.
The best decision I've made recently is ... oh, my gosh. That's hard! That's a question I've never been asked before! The best decision, I think ... (pause). What bra to wear with this top. It's a very sheer top. Yeah. I think that's the best decision I've made most recently! (Laughs)
Okay! How did "S.O.S" change your life?
It has made me a lot busier. It exposed to a totally different genre of music that I didn't know, like the 80's I didn't know. Coming up in Barbados, we aren't exposed to a lot of types of music, especially older music. So after I started recording this song, I did a little research on "Tainted Love", the Soft Cell version, and I realized that there were like two versions before that one!
And did you hear the Marilyn Manson one?
Yeah! Uh huh, the one after theirs! Yeah, so it just exposed me to a different type of music.
Did you start to pump the 80's music?
(sings) Sweet dreams are made of this ... yeah! I love that song.
When you recorded "S.O.S" did you think it would top the popularity of "Pon De Replay"?
I had the instinct in me, but I just didn't know. I really didn't know what to expect. I get a little nervous doing stuff like, doing a cover that was such a hit in the 80s because when people usually do that, they could either really screw it up or do it justice. It all depends on how people like it. So I was really nervous when I put it out but luckily people loved it.
People have a fascination with New York City, and you went from the tropics to NYC. What do you love about it?
I think I love that everything is in New York City. You can have a snack at any time of the night, you can just walk to any shop, like, it's not difficult to live in. Especially as a young person, it's an easy place to live in. Everything is there, it's very convenient.
What's your personal song of the summer?
"Sexy Love" by Ne-yo. And T.I.'s "Why You Wanna".
Ahh, sooo good. That song has a sample too, have you heard the original by Crystal Waters?
Yes! I actually didn't know the sample until one day I was listening to some music, and then I heard that song and I was like, "oh, it's T.I.!" But then it wasn't, so I was like, "ok?" I didn't know it was a sample til I heard the song!

We talked to Dallas about making videos, new Alexisonfire material and going on tour with Dashboard Confessional!
We pulled frontman Patrick to ask him a coupla questions about their upcoming album, high school dances & John Hughes!!
It's not like it's any surprise, but Tom and Dave from Hedley are the office jerk types.
Do the cool, calm and collected Metric gentlemen practice their moves offstage? You probably know the answer to that one.
